چکیده
Understanding of the failure composites is critical for evaluating their safety and reliability when they are in service. In this research, a combined image analysis technique using computed microtomography (micro-CT) scanning electron microscopy (SEM) proposed to study microstructures, damage hybrid unidirectional/woven composite laminate (HUWCL). Micro-CT used extract 3D microscale morphology identify internal behaviours HUWCL. A series material parameters, such as fiber volume fraction, void ratio layer mode, acquired by statistical micro-CT images. addition, surface mechanism woven unidirectional (UD) laminae further investigated SEM. It found that matrix around interface always occurs both laminae, distinct delamination between UD composites. The shows great potential combining with SEM revealing local intrinsic HUWCLs at microscale.

Environmental Effects on Mechanical Properties of Glass/Epoxy and Fiber Metal Laminates, Part I: Hygrothermal Aging
In this article, the effect of hygrothermal aging on mechanical properties of fiber metal laminates (FMLs) and E-glass/epoxy (GE) composites is investigated. First, FML and GE specimens were built using wet lay-up technique under vacuum pressure. Hygrothermal aging simulation was then carried out on both specimen types in distilled water at a constant temperature of 90 °C for 5 weeks. The resul...
متن کاملDamage Assessment of Drilled Hybrid Composite Laminates
Hole drilling operations are common in fibre reinforced plastics FRP’s to facilitate fastener assembly to other parts in more complex structures. As these materials are non-homogeneous, drilling causes some damages, like delamination, for example. Delamination can be reduced by a careful selection of drilling parameters, drill material and drill bit geometry. In this work two types of laminates...
متن کاملSpectral Stiffness Microplane Model for Quasibrittle Composite Laminates—Part I: Theory
The paper presents the spectral stiffness microplane model, which is a general constitutive model for unidirectional composite laminates, able to simulate the orthotropic stiffness, prepeak nonlinearity, failure envelopes, and, in tandem with the material characteristic length, also the post-peak softening and fracture. The framework of the microplane model is adopted. The model exploits the sp...
متن کاملExperimental investigation of reinforced bonded joints for composite laminates
An experimental study has been carried out to investigate the behaviour of co-bonded carbon fibre reinforced plastics joints with a novel design incorporating a through the thickness local reinforcement. Different specimens were manufactured to investigate static and fatigue behaviour, as well as delamination size after impact and damage tolerance characteristics. The mechanical performances of...
متن کاملCharacterizing microscale aluminum composite layer properties on silicon solar cells with hybrid 3D scanning force measurements
This article presents a novel technique to estimate the mechanical properties of the aluminum composite layer on silicon solar cells by using a hybrid 3-dimensional laser scanning force measurement (3-D LSFM) system. The 3-D LSFM system measures the material properties of sub-layers constituting a solar cell. This measurement is critical for realizing high-efficient ultra-thin solar cells. The ...
